The R-78B5.0-1.5L is a high-efficiency switching regulator in a SIP3 package, designed as a pin-compatible replacement for less efficient 78xx linear regulators. It operates over a wide input voltage range of 6.5V to 18V to deliver a stable 5.0V output with a current capacity of 1.5A. Key characteristics include an efficiency of up to 94%, low output ripple and noise of typically 15mVp-p, and integrated short-circuit and thermal shutdown protection. The 'L' version's 90° bent pins are ideal for height-constrained applications. Because no heatsink is required, it offers significant space and cost savings in point-of-load power architectures and battery-powered systems.
