DESCRIPTION

SMCW6151 is an externally bypassed three-phase induction motor solid-state reduced voltage starter (softstarter) with softstop feature designed for efficient motor control without requiring costly variable speed controllers. The device employs a six-thyristor structure operating as a full-wave phase angle controller to reduce motor starting current and torque, optimizing mains grid protection and eliminating voltage fluctuations and flicker. It features configurable voltage ramp duration (0 to 64 seconds), adjustable initial torque (0 to 100%), and selectable softstop modes, with diagnostic and self-test functions for maintenance support. The SMCW6151 can be installed inside delta wiring to drive 1.73 times more current than standard on-line softstarters and easily replaces electromechanical star-delta starters without wiring modifications. Applications include pumps, fans, compressors, and conveyors where soft acceleration reduces mechanical stress, noise, and maintenance costs while protecting motor and electrical infrastructure.
