TIC246M-S is a high-current silicon triac from the TIC246 series designed for AC power switching and control applications. It features a 600 V repetitive peak off-state voltage (VDRM), 16 A RMS full-cycle on-state current at 70°C case temperature, and a peak on-state surge current of 125 A. The device incorporates a glass-passivated wafer construction with a maximum gate trigger current of 50 mA across quadrants 1–3, and is housed in a TO-220 package with pin 2 in electrical contact with the mounting base for efficient heat dissipation. Key electrical characteristics include an on-state voltage of ±1.7 V typical at 22.5 A, a holding current range of 22–40 mA, and a critical dv/dt rating of ±400 V/µs. The TIC246M-S is suitable for industrial AC switching, motor control, and power regulation circuits where reliable high-current switching performance is required.
