DESCRIPTION

5953497-1 is a panel-mount smart card reader designed to accept ISO 7810-7816 type integrated circuit smart cards with 0.76 mm reference thickness. The device features an 8-position ISO 7816 connector with phosphor bronze signal and switch contacts, a PBT G-F black smart card reader body (UL 94V0), and an ABS black fixing frame (UL 94V0). All contacts are finished with 0.00076 inches of gold on mating areas, 0.0025 inches of tin (lead-free/matte) on solder tails, and 0.001 inches of nickel overall. The reader includes card detection switch contacts (S1, S2) and is designed for panel mounting with a recommended metal panel thickness of 0.8±0.1 mm and a cut-out dimension of 63.5±0.2 mm. This connector meets EMV requirements and is commonly used in payment terminals, access control systems, and other applications requiring secure smart card interfacing.
