DESCRIPTION

The VQ548MP-DA is a MEMS catalytic combustible gas sensor (4-Series Pellistor) designed for low-power, intrinsically safe detection of methane and other flammable gases in mining and hazardous area applications. The sensor features a compact size of 16 × 20 mm with a body material of PEI and weighs 8 g, incorporating a dual-element design with a catalytic detector and inert compensator to provide accurate temperature-compensated measurements. Operating at a supply voltage of 3.0 ± 0.1 V with a maximum steady-state current of 6–41 mA, the sensor is optimized for methane response up to 5% volume in air and achieves a maximum response time of approximately 20 seconds at 1% methane concentration. The device is certified to ATEX (II 1G Ex da IIC Ga, I M1 Ex da I Ma) and IECEx standards, operates over a service temperature range of -40°C to +60°C, and is suitable for battery-operated instruments and detectors requiring robust, poison-resistant gas detection in Group I and Group II environments.
