DESCRIPTION

The 843996-5 is a side release extraction and lance reset tool manufactured by TE Connectivity for removing MTE, Mod IV, Tandem Spring, and Mini Tandem Spring contacts from housings while resetting overly depressed contact locking lances. This tool features a tapered tip to facilitate contact removal and is specifically designed for side release housings where the locking lance is lodged into the side of the housing cavity. The tool incorporates a contact lance release tip that depresses the locking lance to allow extraction, a locking lance reset portion that repositions depressed lances to proper height, and a tool stop that prevents over-insertion. With a lance reset angle of 17° and a lance release tip dimension of 2.79 mm [0.110 inches], this tool is used with new-style locking lance designs on Mod IV, Mod IV.v, and Mod V contacts.
