DESCRIPTION
The V5.5MLA1206A is a surface-mount multilayer varistor (MLV) designed for transient voltage suppression and overvoltage protection in compact 1206 package form. It features a maximum continuous working voltage of 5.5 V DC, with a maximum non-repetitive surge voltage of 4.0 V AC and can handle peak surge currents up to 180 A with an 8/20 µs waveform, absorbing up to 0.400 Watt-seconds of energy per pulse. The device exhibits a maximum clamping voltage of 39.0 V at 1 A and a nominal voltage of 71 V at 1 mA DC test current, with typical capacitance of 93 pF at 1 MHz. Its interdigitated multilayer ceramic construction with metal electrodes provides excellent current distribution, fast response time (less than 1 ns), and reliable energy absorption across multiple transient pulses. The V5.5MLA1206A is ideal for protecting sensitive electronics in consumer devices, industrial control circuits, and telecommunications equipment from ESD, lightning, and switching transients.
