DESCRIPTION

SMCJ17A is a unidirectional Transient Voltage Suppressor Diode designed for surge and ESD protection in portable communications, computing, and video equipment. The device features a working peak reverse voltage of 17V with a breakdown voltage of 18.9V, housed in a compact SMC (DO-214AB) surface mount package. It delivers peak pulse power dissipation of 1500 watts at 1 ms pulse width and peak forward surge current of 200 amps (8.3 ms single half sine wave), with typical response times less than 1.0 ns. The device operates over a temperature range of -55°C to +150°C and is RoHS compliant with lead-free termination, making it ideal for protecting sensitive circuits from transient voltage events in modern compact electronic designs.
