DESCRIPTION

SMBJ18A is a unidirectional transient voltage suppressor diode designed for surge and ESD protection in compact surface-mount applications. This device features a working peak reverse voltage of 18 V, with a breakdown voltage range of 20.0 to 22.1 V, and is housed in the DO-214AA (SMB) package for easy integration into modern electronics. The diode exhibits fast response times of less than 1.0 picosecond and can handle a maximum peak current of 21.4 A with a clamping voltage of 29.3 V, providing robust protection against transient overvoltage events. With a maximum reverse leakage current of 10 µA and maximum clamping current of 36.6 A, the SMBJ18A is ideal for protecting sensitive circuits in portable communications, computing, and video equipment from IEC 61000-4-2 ESD, IEC 61000-4-4 EFT, and IEC 61000-4-5 surge events.
