DESCRIPTION

The 4071 is a 31.5 MHz synthesized arbitrary waveform generator that combines DSP and DDS technologies to provide a versatile, cost-effective signal source for bench applications. It features a true 12-bit arbitrary generator with bandwidth from DC to 31.5 MHz and frequency resolution of 0.01 Hz, supporting multiple waveform types including sine, square, pulse, ramp, triangle, random noise, and arbitrary waveforms with up to 32K points at 40 Msample/Sec. The instrument offers comprehensive modulation capabilities including AM, FM, PM, SSB, FSK, and BPSK (both internal and external), along with sweep functions (linear/log), burst mode, DTMF generation and detection, and VCO functionality. Output levels range from 4 mV to 10 Vpp into 50O with 1 mV resolution, and the device includes RS-232 connectivity, 10 stored instrument presets, and field software upgrade capability. The 4071 is ideal for signal generation in test and measurement applications, offering superior stability and accuracy compared to competitive models by generating each data point independently rather than using simple look-up tables.
